MASANTOL
- Incumbent Mayor Dan Guinto yesterday said that they are studying the
possibility of filing a case against former Mayor Peter Flores
involving missing furniture and fixtures in the Mayor's Office.
Guinto
added their legal consultant is now currently working with the
treasurer's office and other departments in custody of the documents
involving properties issued to the office of the previous local chief
executive.
The
new mayor noted that after the investigation should there be enough
reason to support a case against Flores, he would not hesitate to file
the
same.
However,
Guintu clarified that he just wanted to protect and secure the
properties of the municipal government as the same were also owned by
the people in Masantol.
"Walang
pulitika rito. Bilang tagasilbi na inilagay nila obligasyon natin na
protektahan ang pag aari ng munisipyu," he told members of the
media in an interview.
It can be recalled that Guintu expressed disappointment -- as the
Mayor’s Office was stripped bare of furniture and fixtures discovered upon his assumption to office last July 1.
“Everything is gone. From tables, chairs, picture frames, pens,
paper, curtains and computers. The Mayor’s Office was stripped bare of
furniture and fixtures. Pati kahuli-hulihang turnilyo tinangay nila
(They took everything to the last screw),” Guintu earlier stated.
Flores, in a recent report, vehemently denied the allegation of the new mayor and claimed that he only
brought with him his personal things and documents including picture
frames.
