FLORIDABLANCA - Some 1,208 indigent residents from various villages in this town had benefited from the distribution of Philippine Health (PhilHealth) Insurance cards held at the multi purpose covered court in front of the municiapal hall yesterday.
The distribution was led by Governor Lilia Pineda, Mayor Eduardo Guerrero along with other local officials.
Elizabeth Baybayan, Provincial Social Welfare Development Officer said that the PhilHealth cards were sponsored by the national and provincial government with some given by former President and now 2nd district Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Baybayan noted that the beneficiaries were identified based on the previous census conducted by the Deparmtent of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)
These include individuals belonging to the poorest of the poor with no capability to pay for their medical needs.
Governor Pineda, meanwhile, reminded them to safe keep the PhilHealth cards to avoid inconviniences in securing benefits in case they will get hospitalize including any of their family member who is under their guardianship.
"Ingatan po ninyo ang inyong mga PhilHealth cards. Huwag po ninyong iwawala dahil malaking bagay po iyan. Wala na kayong babayaran sa mga district hospital natin kapag pumasok kayo dun," she told the PhilHealth cards recipients.
