Suspected member of crime group dies in armed encounter


STA ANA – A suspected member of an organized crime group operating here and  in neighboring towns  was shot dead in an armed encounter by the combined elements of the municipal police station (MPS) and the Regional Special Operations Task Group (RSOTG) the other day.

Police Chief Inspector Paul Ynigo Gamido, town’s police chief identified the suspect as Orlando “Samboy” Garcia, married and a resident of Barangay San Nicolas, this town.

Initial investigation revealed that the police who were conducting checkpoints received information through a cell phone call from concerned citizen that a customer (Garcia) was carrying a short firearm in a videoke bar in Barangay San Pedro here which he allegedly poked to another customer.

The police team responded, however, the subject was no longer in the area and base on the additional information gathered he was on board of a tricycle going Arayat town.

Reports have it that the suspect was spotted along JASA road along Barangay San Bartolome. He was told to stop but the latter sped off until a short chasing occurred.

Police officers alighted from the patrol car and approached the suspect for verification.

Garcia withdrew his gun but prevented by the operatives. However, police claimed the suspect accidentally pulled the trigger of his firearm hitting himself on his lower chest side.

It was learned that Garcia was also involved in robbery extortion, riding in tanden, akyat bahay, gun for hire and other criminal activities operating in Mexico and Arayat towns.

He was also included in the list of the top 10 most wanted persons in the municipality of Sta. Ana with a standing warrant of arrest for direct assault.
