CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - An official from the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) the other day bared that some P144-million budget has been allocated to finance the contruction of irrigation projects in the province.
Reynaldo Puno, regional irrigation manager said that the fundings came from the national government under the administration of President Benigno Aquino.
This is still part of the agricultural support in the form of irrigation projects by the government which is aimed at achieving the objective of rice sufficiency program.
Puno in a recent meeting with the Governor Lilia Pineda and other elected officials together with the Federation of Pampanga Irrigators Associations assured the farmers of continous study being undertaken by NIA to further improve the existing irrigation technology.
Engr. Angelito Miguel, manager of the Pampanga Bataan Irrigation Management Office (NIA PAMBAT-IMO) also disclosed that another P68.05-million has been set aside for Porac-Gumain River Irrigation System.
As this developed, Governor Pineda thanked President Aquino for continuosly providing the province of Pampanga a just share on the national revenue through various projects and programs benifiting the Kapampangan in general.
Pineda particularly cited the recent P144-million budget allotted for the irrigation projects this 2013.
Meanwhile, Pineda led the turned over of an all-purpose vehicle to Federation of Pampanga Irrigators Associations.
She also distributed two units of hand tractors to the Provincial Irrigators Association which were purchased under the 85 - 15 percent scheme by the Department of the Agriculture and Provincial Government respectively.
