MINALIN - Incoming Mayor Edgar Flores yesterday bared that they are ready for rainy season as his core group is already
preparing for the same to ensure the safety of the residents in this town.
Flores
who is about to serve his fresh term as local chief executive said that
his assumption to office might as well signify the beginning of the
rainy season.
"Ang pinaghahandaan natin talaga ngayon ay ang pagpasok ng tag ulan. Ayaw natin na
mabulaga tayo sa problema sa simula ng ating panunungkulan kaya ngayon pa lang naghahanda na tayo," he added.
The incoming mayor stressed that the safety of his constituents is his immediate concern.
"Isa din yan sa instruction natin sa transition team natin kasi ayaw na nating maulit yung nangyari sa nakaraan,"
he noted.
Minalin
is among the towns in Pampanga which experienced massive flooding when
San Fernando-Sto. Tomas-Minalin Tail Dike was damaged at the
height of torrential rains last year.
The
said damaged tail dike was reconstructed and at the same time various
groups spearheaded the re-channeling of Pasig Potrero River and
divert the flow of water to its original channel.
Flores
told Sun Star Pampanga that he already coordinated with the officials
of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) regional office
about the status of the flood mitigating projects in town.
"So far yung mga dikeng ginawa nila ay maayos naman," he ended.
