CITY
OF SAN FERNANDO – The provincial government yesterday instructed the
Municipal Disaster Action Officers (MDAO), Municipal Engineers and other
members of the disaster management councils in various municipalities
to identify areas which can be used as evacuation centers.
Governor
Lilia Pineda made this call following the pronouncement of the
Department of Education officials that public schools could no longer be
used as evacuation centers during calamities.
She
encouraged the affected stakeholders during the disaster preparedness
meeting with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Council (PDRRMC) to look for an alternative places which will serve as evacuation centers particularly during rainy season.
Earlier,
Pineda along with executives of National Housing
Authority led the inspection of potential evacuation centers in the
province as part of the provincial government's disaster preparation.
This
includes unutilized NHA properties including several hectares of lands
in Barangays San Isidro in Magalang town, Telepayong, Arayat town and
two separate lots in Floridablanca.
With
these properties, the governor is planning to construct evacuation
centers installed with basic facilities and amenities to provide
convinience with the evacuees.
:Last
year,
among the worse flood affected municipalities in the province came from
the 4th district and other low lying areas communities.
