Mayor-elect Rene Maglanque and
Vice Mayor-elect Normita “Babes” Evangelista admitted in a radio interview that fishing industry in Candaba is currently
dying.
However, they believed it’s not
too late to revive the same.
They said, with the timely
intervention of the municipal and provincial government, Bureau of Fisheries
and Aquatic Resources and other concerned agencies, they could still “turn the
table” and make the said industry again as number one source of livelihood of the
people.
Maglanque stated that he would
push to strengthen the capability of the fishpond operators and small fishermen
in terms of trainings and technology for the modern approach.
mayor-elect added.
Maglanque also noted that another
problem is the lack of viable market as final destination of the harvested
fish.
buwan na inalagaan tapos walang mapapala,” he noted.
Evangelista for her part
explained that technological advancement involving the industry must be
transferred to the fishpond owners to prevent them continuously committing
error in their undertaking.
“Technology ang kailangan. Marami
she pointed out.
