CANDABA
- Local folks are criticizing the engineering design employed by the
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in rehabilitating the
portion of the Arnedo Dike in Barangay Mandasig here.
This
came as construction workers on the site started building another wall
made up boulders covered with metal net adjacent to the original dike,
part of which already collapsed while the remaining portion is still
threatened to be washed out by strong current of water from the Pampanga
River.
"Nagtatayo
Eliseo Samson, a resident said.
Reports
have it that for the said damaged dike alone, some P200-million had
been spent by the national government but still failed to serve its
purpose.
This dike previously collapsed while the weather is fair
and water in Pampanga
River is calm and in
average level.
"Napapansin
pagtatrabaho," another resident here stressed.
