BHWs hold symposium on health programs

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Some 3,200 Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) in various municipalities in the province recently attended a symposium on the health programs held at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center this city.

The event was hosted by the Provincial Government in cooperation with the Department of Health (DOH) - Center for Health and Development (CHD).

Governor Lilia Pineda spearheaded the symposium. She was joined by CHD Director Dra. Leonita Gorgolon along with other provincial elected officials.

Pineda during the occasion reminded the BHWs about the continuing commitment to bring health services closer to the communities through integrated medical assistance being implemented by the provincial government.

She encouraged them to serve the people with utmost care despite the fact they were not even receiving salaries in exchange of their services.

The governor recognized that provincial health programs will not successful without the help of the BHWs.

The symposium, at the same time,  served as an early Christmas party for the BHWs by Governor Pineda.

It was likewise highlighted by a series of cultural presentations prepared by the BHWs in each municipality.
