Folks want floating birthing station push through

A barrio in Masantol town
MASANTOL – The residents here had expressed hope that the proposed establishment of  a floating birthing station will soon be carried out by the provincial government.

According  to the residents, this initiative is a big help to the pregnant mothers and their families as this could mean lesser expenses.

“Malaking problema para sa aming nakatira sa coastal barangay kapag mayroon nanganganak dahil kailangan pa namin sumakay ng bangka ng halos may isang oras papunta sa pinakamalapit na hospital,” Pilar Lacap, a resident here stated.

Lacap explained that most of the pregnant mothers in the coastal barangays preferred to give birth at home because of poverty.

Governor Lilia Pineda, in a previous visit here told the local officials and residents present, the provincial government is now studying the possibility of putting up a floating birthing station.

This will be placed at the Pampanga  River to serve not only the residents of Masantol but also the neighboring towns like Macabebe and Apalit.

Pineda said that the proposed facility if push through will be installed with the necessary equipments to be manned by competent medical practitioners and other health workers.

“Bawal na po kasi ang nanganganak sa bahay,” the governor reminded the residents.
