Community health workers hold summit

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Some 300 Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) in the province has attended a summit held at the Benigno Hall this city.

The BHWs’ summit was led by the Department of Health in close coordination with the Provincial Government.

It was aimed at improving the delivery of basic health services in various communities including those in the far flung places.

BHWs were reminded that the safety of the people is their primary concerned although they carried it voluntary.

Board Member Monina “Monz” Laus, Provincial Government Committee on Health head, represented Governor Lilia Pineda in the occasion.

The lady legislator said the BHWs play a big role in Pineda’ integrated medical assistance implemented in the entire province.

Laus added these health workers were not receiving salaries from their respective local government units and instead they only get allowance but still they perform well.

Earlier, the provincial government through Governor Pineda issued PhilHealth cards to BHWs to pay back the sacrifices and consistent participation in helping the Kapampangans.
