Assistance depends on disaster management plan - PDRRMO

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) chief recently bared that only those municipalities who would submit disaster management plan will get immediate assistance from the provincial government.

Engr. Lulu Alingcastre, PDRRMO chief said that the assistance will be based upon the request in consideration with the previous flood situation in the localities.

“Based on the disaster plan, the provincial government can determine what assistance is needed in every town. As early as now, they should request for stockpile, sacks for sand bagging and other materials deemed necessary before the disaster occurs. No emergency request will be honored,” Alingcastre stressed.

This came as Governor Lilia Pineda asked the municipal disaster action officers along with their respective  municipal engineers  to submit their disaster management plan this week.

“Submit your disaster management plan as soon as possible. No time should be wasted during disaster. I will talk to your mayors regarding this matter,” Pineda said.

She talked about the urgent need for the local officials to work hand in hand with the provincial goverment to make sure that the residents in the flood prone areas will be kept safe during calamities.

The governor maintained that  local government unit executives are responsible and at all time accountable for the safety of their constituents.

“The provincial government will assist and augment during disaster, but the municipal government has the full responsibility in the safety of the people in the area. It is not the other way around,” Pineda said.

Last year, the worse flood affected municipalities are those located along the Pampanga Rivers and other major waterways in the province.
