CITY
OF CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - Officials from the provincial government and
National Housing Authority (NHA)
recently led the inspection of potential evacuation centers in the
province as part of the preparation this coming rainy season.
Governor
Lilia Pineda along NHA Project Manager Ines Gonzales visited several
hectares of lands in Barangays San Isidro in Magalang town, Telepayong,
Arayat town and two separate lots in Floridablanca.
Pineda
is planning to establish evacuation centers with complete facilities
and amenities to ensure that Kapampangan who are expected to be
displaced due to massive flooding particularly those living in the 4th
district and other low lying areas in the province.
The
governor earlier described the would be evacuation centers as just like
big homes with kitchen, comfort rooms, health clinics and the like to
accommodate the residents in distress during rainy season.
Joining
the governor during inspection were Board Members Olga Frances
“Fritzie” David-Dizon, Cris Garbo, provincial engineers among others.
It
can be noted that the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management
Council (PDRRMC) under the leadership of Engr. Lulu Alingcastre has been
continuously preparing for any untoward incident especially during
calamities.
Included
in the high-risk areas being monitored are Gugu Creek in Bacolor;
Arayat-Apalit Setback Levee particularly in
Barangays Cupang and Guemasan section in Arayat, some portions of the
Arnedo Dike traversing Pampanga River, major river channels and
waterways in the second district and the eight flood prone
municipalities in the 4th district.
The
PDRRMC claimed that even before the rainy season begins relief goods,
stocks, equipment are already prepared and various rescue
teams are likewise trained.
