MACABEBE - The lady mayor here yesterday urged the provincial government to act upon the request of the local government units in the province to spearhead  auction proceedings on immovable properties wherein the corresponding real property taxes (RPT) remained unpaid for so long.

This statement was made by Mayor Annette Flores-Balgan during the recent launching of Integrated Tax Management System (iTax) through the effort of the provincial government under the leadership of Governor Lilia Pineda.

Mayor Annette Flores-Balgan said that it is about time for the government to get a just share from owners of real property units by paying respective tax obligations.

She noted that in her town alone, many owners of various real properties are not religiously complying with the law insofar as property taxes are concerned.

However, Balgan stated that with iTax system, the collection of RPTs is expected to surpass all  previous records.

iTax system is aimed at promoting  transparency, efficiency and effectiveness which in the end will lead remarkable increase on tax collection.

Under this system, lengthy manual process will be eliminated with the use of computer software that  provides all details about the properties, tax liabilities, and encumbrances that affect ownership of  a particular real property unit.

iTax system was also launched in San Luis on the same day as witnessed by  Mayor Venancio Macapagal, officials and employees of municipal assessor’s office and municipal treasurer’s office.

It was learned that, San Luis town’s quarterly collection of P815,000 surpassed its previous collection of P725,000
