Capitol eyes additional P356M collections on real properties

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO  – The provincial government is eyeing an additional of P356 million collection involving real property units in the province following the launching of Integrated Tax Management System (iTax) to different municipalities.

Provincial Assessor Engr. Romeo Dizon disclosed that under the old system, they have recorded an annual real property tax (RPT) collections of at least P44-millon.

However, he clarified that the target could only be achieved upon the full implementation of iTax system in all municipalities in Pampanga anchored on the continuing effort of the local officials to automate transaction on real properties.

The automated system was first tested in the town of Minalin wherein it was observed from previous P2.9-million collections, it was increased to some P3.4-million.

iTax system was subsequently implemented in Sta. Rita town, the previous collection of  P2.4 million last year was increased to P3.1 million.

Meanwhile, Dizon also attributed the improving collections on RPT on the intensive tax mapping operations which started as early 2010 and with the continuing support by Governor Lilia Pineda since she became the provincial chief executive of the province.

The tax mapping activities led to the discovery of some 581,683 unregistered real property units in at least 19 municipalties.

It was discovered that are about  452,620 real property units (RPU) in 470 barangays in the province.

In effect, the provincial government  recorded an additional of  3,495 parcels of land;125,111 buildings; and 457 units of machinery which  are also subject to payment of RPTs.

Pineda said iTax system promotes transparency, efficiency and effectiveness on RPT collections.

She noted that with the new system there is no need to go over with bulk of documents pertaining to ownership of particular property.

The added that with iTax system, in just one click on the computer the taxpayer will instantly know how much he needs to pay.
