Bondoc-Sagum, for the first time in six straight years of the Ibon-Ebon Festival celebration, took the center stage of Ms. Earth Park in Barangay Mandasig here as she greeted and waved to thousands of Candabenios, tourists and other guests who participated in the said festival.
The congresswoman came along with Masantol Mayor Peter Flores and former San Simon Mayor Rodrigo Canlas to witness the ‘grandest’ celebration during the incumbency of Mayor Jerry Pelayo as local chief executive.
Sun Star Pampanga tried to interview Bondoc-Sagum but she refused. Instead, she said, “retired na ako dyan maybe next time na lang.”
However, political observers here stressed that this is a good sign about the possibility of having political compromise between the camp of the Bondoc and Pelayo.
Mayor Pelayo is running for congress to represent the people in the fourth district. He will be facing another congressional candidate Juan Pablo “Rimpy” Bondoc - brother of Congresswoman Anna.
“Her (Congresswoman Anna) coming indicates her support to Ibon-Ebon Festival. She doesn’t need to talk. Her facial expression during the presentation is enough to show her support. This is tantamount to supporting Pelayo’s ambition,” an observer here stated.
“Isa itong magandang senyales para sa pulitika dito sa Candaba at sa buong kuatro distrito. Hindi karaniwan na ang dalawang magkalaban sa pulitika ay magkakasama sa itataas ng stage para suportahan ang festival namin,” Johnson Delos Reyes, a resident here stated.
