CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - The provincial government yesterday urged fisher folks in the province to find an alternative means of livelihood to support their respective families
Governor Lilia Pineda said that Pampanga River and other major waterways are already heavily silted which made fishing as an unstable source of living for the residents in the coastal barangays.
"Dapat pu ikayu mag isip kayong alternatibong kapanakitan bukod king pamanasan. Deng anak yu pagsikapan yu lang mayari king pamagaral bangkanita makasaup la kekayu king daratang a panahon. Ila mu man, ali nala maging manasan at munlad la king kabyayan," Pineda told the fishermen in Sasmuan and Lubao towns.,
The governor assured them that the provincial government is willing to provide whatever assistance they need to further improve their standard of living.
"Sabyan yu kekami kung nanu ing kailangan yung saup at ikami king kapitolyo maka suporta kami kekayo. Nung nanu man ing kailangan yu ibie mi kekayo," she added.
Meanwhile, Pineda instructed the Provincial Social Welfare Development Officer Elizabeth Baybayan to secure PhilHealth cards for the fishermen who are still without health insurance.
Pineda also asked the Provincial Cooperative and Entrepreneurial Development Office (PCedo) to provide additional capital for the fishermen after meeting the basic requirements under the Negosyu king Panyulung Program (NPP)
