Cops to prohibit swimming activity in Pampanga River

SAN LUIS - Officials from the Pampanga Police Provincial Office the other day instructed the chiefs of police from municipalities adjacent to Pampanga River to prohibit the residents from going into the said river.

This came as  Pampanga River has claimed the lives of  seven persons last week.

"Ipagbawal na po natin sa mga residente ang maligo sa ilog. Kung magsi-swimming classes sila ay huwag nalang sa ilog," Superintendent Jhoana Ponseca-Rosales, chief of the Pampanga police operations branch stated.

It can be recalled that  five people were drowned last Tuesday after the boat they were in capsized due to the strong water current in Pampanga River along Barangay Sto. Tomas and Sta. Monica portions .

The police earlier identified the fatalities as Alvin Guevarra, 32; wife Rhea, 33; and their children Aldrea, 6; Jovilyn 8; and Nigel, 9

The victims were with two others, identified as Michael Galaredo, 34, and Leynard Sieza, 14, who both survived the incident.

Last Wednesday, two more children in Apalit town were drowned at the Pampanga River.

They were Lolita Mandap, 13, of Barangay Cansinala and Khaela Rufino, 12, of Barangay Sulipan who bodies recovered the following day.
