CITY
OF SAN FERNANDO --- At least P733-million were collected from the
quarry industry in 33 months in office of Governor Lilia G. Pineda.
This
collection surpassed the P616-million collected during the time former
Governor Eddie Panlilio in his 36 months in office from 2007 to 2010.
Engineer
Arthur Punzalan, head of the provincial government environment and
natural resources office (PG-ENRO) said was realized through the
diligence of the KALAM workers who worked day and night just to monitor
the quarry trucks that pass through the established check points in the
lahar rich municipalities.
The
provincial government implemented the anti-overloading law to protect
the integrity of the major roads going to the lahar areas particularly
the national and provincial roads.
Punzalan said the total amount collected is distributed among the concerned barangays, municipalities and the province.
"The
barangays where the sand originated are given 40 percent share, the
municipalities are given 30 percent and the province is given 30 percent
share," the Capitol clarified.
The province is targetting some P760-million collection for the entire three years of the Pineda administration.
