CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - Officials from the New Era University (NEU) the other day had spearheaded a seminar intended for Alternative Learning System (ALS) managers held in this city.
This seminar has involved proper way handling special cases of learners under the ALS program being implemented by the Iglesia Ni Cristo in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd).
It was attended by some brethren from various locales in Pampanga who are also engaged in teaching profession.
Alberto R. Domingo Jr., Ed.D, NEU Vice President served as the resource speaker tackled the advantages of the ALS program as an another way to basic education.
He explained that this program is different from the usual classroom set up wherein students are getting instructions from their teachers using textbooks.
"Sa ALS hindi na kailangan pa ng classroom basta may upuan at lamesa pwedi na. Wala din tayong textbooks, modules ang ginagamit natin. Ang tawag nating sa mga nag-aaral natin ay learners," Domingo noted.
He also stressed that ALS graduates are eligible to study college.
Normally, under the education system of the Philippines, no student is allowed to enter tertiary level of education without high school diploma.
