CITY OF SAN
FERNANDO – The Commission on Elections (Comelec)
provincial office yesterday warned to candidates who willfully violate campaign rules
and regulations in Pampanga.
Atty. Fernando Cot-om, provincial election
supervisor said that those who will continuously disregard the call to comply
with the laws governing the conduct of 2013 midterm elections will be facing disqualification
cases.
He particularly cited proliferation of over size
posters installed in major streets in various municipalities in the province.
“Iyong ibang over size posters ay tinanggal na
natin pero mga nasa private properties
ay hindi muna natin ginalaw, nag iingat lang tayo baka kasi magkaroon ng ibang
kulay,” Cot-om told Sun Star Pampanga in an interview.
The provincial election supervisor, however
stressed those candidates responsible for the over size posters will be
receiving letters demanding the removal of the same even if placed in private
properties.
Under Comelec Resolution 9615, campaign posters
must measure only two feet by three feet and displayed in common poster areas
identified by election officers.
Propaganda materials can be displayed in
private property provided that it has the consent of the owners and the posters
are within the allowed sizes.
Political parties on the other hand are allowed
to put up one billboard not exceeding 12 feet by 16 feet or 192 square feet in
size.
The Comelec also prohibits the mounting or nailing of
campaign posters on trees, and in schools, shrines, barangay halls and health
centers.
With this, Cot-om urged candidates to voluntarily
remove unlawful campaign propaganda to avoid facing disqualification cases.
