CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - The provincial chief executive yesterday stated that she wanted zero casualty during pregnancy and in giving birth.
This came as Governor Lilia Pineda has started pushing for improve prenatal and postnatal care on Kapampangan pregnant women.
With this, she met with some 900 pregnant mommies in the second district in a prenatal consultation held at Lubao town yesterday.
Pineda with the help of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) headed by Elizabeth Baybayin in coordination with the municipal health office organized the said women and provided them free check ups, vitamins and other necessities needed in their condition.
Aside from these, pregnant women will likewise receive PhilHealth cards from the provincial government.
The governor also promised assistance to those who will undergo cesarean childbirth (C-section) at the provincial and district hospitals with only minimal cost to the family.
Reports have it that 11 mothers die every day due to maternity-related causes.
It was learned that the causes of maternal deaths are delays in taking critical actions, in seeking care, in making referral and delay in providing of appropriate medical management.
The pregnant women are required to have at least four prenatal visits for adequate evaluation and management of diseases and conditions that may put the pregnancy at risk.
