CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - At least eight towns and one city in the province had been identified by the law enforcement authorities as election hot spots or high risks areas.
Police Superintendent Charlie Cabradilla, Regional Special Operations Task Group (RSOTG) official said that included in the list of the towns and city were Candaba, San Simon, Mexico, Arayat, Sasmuan, Guagua, Magalang, Lubao and Mabalacat City.
Cabradilla explained that the list came based on the past records of election related violence that occurred during the conduct of previous elections.
He said that as early as December last year, the police in coordination with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) already placed the same in the list to prevent the commission of any violence pertaining to the upcoming 2013 midterm elections.
In fact, since then, RSOTG established and regularly conducting checkpoints in various municipalities to ensure that lawless group including private armed groups will not take advantage of the situation to advance the interest of any candidate.
Cabradilla specifically cited Arayat town as with most number of violence almost every elections plus the alledged presence of armed groups operating in the area.
Earlier, a high ranking official from the Pampanga Police Provincial Office (PPPO) told Sun Star Pampanga that the presence of the police personnel in public places benefited the general public because the crime incidents had been remarkably reduced.
