CANDABA – The municipal elections officer here recently reminded local candidates that they are only entitled to two police or military security details in relation to the upcoming midterm elections.
Ma. Rosario Lalic told them under the existing Commission on Elections (Comelec) resolution including rules and regulations on the matter, incumbents are officials are allowed to engage the services of the said law enforcers to ensure their safety during elections period.
However, she encouraged them to file their request for security early and coordinate the same with the Philippine National Police (PNP) for proper assessment whether there is an impending danger or immediate threat on the lives.
This applies to candidates other than those currently holding elected positions.
Comelec Resolution No. 96-08, incumbent governors and congressmen are allowed two PNP or military security details and two more security guards.
Incumbent vice governors and local officials seeking re-election or running for other elective positions and candidates for the 2013 elections can only have two blue guards for security.
