Local candidates to sign peace covenant today


CANDABA – Candidates for various elected positions in this town are set to sign a peace covenant in a simple ceremony to be held at the Poblacion Parish Church today.

The peace covenant was organized by the local police in coordination with the Commission of Elections and Department of Interior and Local Government both in the municipal level.

This initiative is aimed at ensuring the conduct of safe, honest and peaceful elections.

Among the participating candidates were Liberal Party mayoralty bet Rene Maglanque,  Nacionalista Party standard bearer Reynaldo Sagum, Kambilan Party candidate Patrick Gerard Pelayo and independent candidate Boy Baylon.

Accompanying the mayoralty candidates were their complete line up for vice mayors and councillors.

The signing of peace covenant is a tradition being observed by the candidates every elections to show their sincerity on having a peaceful and successful observance of the democratic processes.

This town is geographically divided into three major regions including Kapampangan, Tagalog and Poblacion proper covering at least barangays with boundaries in Gapan Nueva Ecija and on the other side is Baliuag Bulacan.

It has more than 100,000 population with at least 60,000 individuals regularly participating in the electoral exercises.
