APALIT - Barangay officials here lauded Governor Lilia Pineda and Board Member Nestor "Bay" Tolentino for investing on the education of the poor students from the remote communities in the 4th district of the province.
Jun Munoz, village chief in Paligue, this town, said that they were happy because the provincial government appeared to be serious in bringing an affordable and quality college education within the reach of the poor residents.
He said that the establishment of Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University (DHVTSU) Sto Tomas satellite campus would make a big impact on the lives of the residents believing that it is only through education the standard of living will be improved.
"Napakaswerte namin dahil andyan lamang sa tabi ang isang unibersidad. Hindi na kailangang lumayo pa ng aming mga anak para mag aral. Kahit lakarin na lamang nila ito pwedi," Munoz told Sun Star Pampanga in an interview.
The village chief said that it was Board Member Tolentino who pushed for the establishment of the said satellite campus through constant coordination with DHVTSU officials for the campus requirements.
Dr. Enrique Baquing, DHVTSU president also recognized the participation the Tolentino in realizing dream of a satellite campus in the 4th district.
He said, it was Board Member Tolentino who authored the resolution prompting the creation Sto. Tomas satellite campus and allocating funds for the renovation of the old and abandoned building of the Department of Health in Barangay Moras, Sto. Tomas town.
Meanwhile, Tolentino declared that the same is a realization of a dream for his constituents.
He claimed, however, that it was the deep commitment of Governor Pineda that answered his dream for the poor Kapampangans.
"Siyempre si Nanay ang dapat nating pasalamatan. Ipinakita lamang natin ang idea at nang makita niyang maganda ay sinuportahan naman niya ito agad," Tolentino ended.
