CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - Governor Lilia Pineda yesterday disclosed that if given fresh mandate after elections, she would ask the provincial board to allocate another P100-million for the livelihood and employment programs.
She opined that the need to strengthen the job generating mechanism including the provision of employment opportunities to the Kapampangan is increasing in order to make sure that they will not get stock into poverty.
Pineda said Pampanga has everything covering all aspects of livelihood from livestock, fishing, farming, garments, delicacies, among others.
With this, the provincial government will be providing additional capital, technical-know-how and trainings in order to maximize the full potential of the industry they are into it.
Of all the districts in Pampanga, the 4th district is the poorest district comprising of eight municipalities wherein 80 percent of the population are depending on fishing and farming activities.
This came amid high potential on aqua and agri business.
With this, the governor is encouraging the residents to avail of the programs of the provincial government to further boost their livelihood in the locality.
For employment, the recently concluded job fair by the Public Employment Services Office with the help of the Department of Labor and Employment benefited some 7,803 jobless Kampangan.
However, only 1,468 applicants were hired on the spot after passing the interviews and were able to submit the documentary requirement for employment.
