MASANTOL - Liberal Party (LP) mayoralty bet here yesterday bared his priority programs should he gets elected in the upcoming 2013 midterm elections
Dan Guinto said that the people from this town deserve a leader who can truly promote and protect their interest.
Among his top priorities include the establishment flood control projects that are within the capacity of the local government unit.
He said dredging the entire Pampanga River is not advisable as it would require bigger budget allocation from the national government.
"Iyong short term solution natin ay i dredge muna iyong bunganga ng Pampanga Bay tapos magpapagawa tayo ng mga checkgates para kapag bumababa ang tubig sa kailugan tsaka natin ito bubuksan para tuloy tuloy ang daloy nito," Guintu added.
However, he admitted that flooding problem is something that cannot be solved only by the concerned local government unit.
Guintu instead recognized people's in addressing the problem in order to minimize the effect of flooding.
"Kailangan i-educate natin ang mga tao kung paano sila makaka adopt sa problema. Ang totoo hindi naman talaga natin mai-aalis ang problema sa baha. Ang mahalaga maturuan natin ang mga tao na maka survive," he stated.
Guinto also proposes the establishment the major evacuation centers in two strategic locations in the left and right portion of the river to cater the residents in the coastal communities.
"Ilalagay natin lahat ng kailangan ng ating mga kababayan. May clinic, comfort rooms, lutuan, opisina at iba pang pasilidad na kailangan nila," he told Sun Star Pampanga in an interview.
Aside from these, he would at the same time pushed for the establishment of community college, clinics, among other public facilities.
"Gusto din natin na ilibre na sa pag aaral ang lahat ng mga kabataan dito sa Masantol sa lahat ng public schools dito sa atin," he ended.
