MAGALANG – The Provincial Government through Vice Governor Joseller “Yeng” Guiao has launched the “Dental Immunization Program for Day Care Children” the other day in barangay San Miguel here.
The activity benefited some 1,800 kids from various day care centers in town.
Guiao encouraged the kids and their parents to promote and develop good oral hygiene to avoid dental problems like plaque, tooth decay, gum disease and halitosis.
“Sana maharap ninyo ang inyong kinabukasan ng may magandang ngiti,” he said.
Joining the vice governor were wife Jenny, Dr. Eddie Ponio, provincial hospital administrator of Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Hospital (DMMH), Dra. Jing Ponio along with other local officials.
Dr. Ponio said that the dental immunization program is part of the continuing effort of the provincial government to bring medical-dental services closer to various communities.
“Good oral hygiene is essential for the kids,” he noted.
He also stated that the program was realized through the partnership of the capitol, local government unit, DMMH and Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWD).
Meanwhile, Dra. Jing Ponio explained that the main objective of the dental immunization program is to reduce the caries incidents in the province.
In this town alone, it was learned the caries incident has already reached 86 percent.
Kids from 3 to 14 year old from the 629 day care centers with a total of at least 25,160 day care children in the entire province are expected to benefit from the program.
