Summary of Accomplishments 2010 -2012 Governor Lilia G. Pineda: Agro-Eco-tourism

Agro-Eco-tourism in Nabuclod strengthened

Upon signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) and the Tribung Ayta of Floridablanca, Governor Lilia G. Pineda has worked for the strengthening of the agro-eco-tourism potentials of the upland barangay of Nabuclod in Floridablanca.

The Capitol has intensified its efforts in promoting the indigenous peoples’ socio-cultural heritage and economic growth in the said upland village.

They have also formed the “Pampanga Upland Eco-Adventure” project which aimed at turning  Nabuclod into a premier tourist destination in the country and in the region in particular while giving emphasis to the provision of livelihood opportunities for the Aetas.

A total of 179 families or 897 aetas of Nabuclod are expected to benefit from this project.

The governor believes that with the full cooperation of all sectors in the province, the eco-adventure in Nabuclod has a “bright future” as an ideal place for both local and foreign tourists.

Initially, the Capitol has put up necessary eco-tourism facilities in the area such as three (3) view decks, Two (2) ziplines, cable car and fear buster. Aetas are being trained to man the whole project.

The first view deck with a small swimming pool for Aeta kids offers a view of the Aeta Village and serves as venue for the Aetas’ cultural presentations.

Among other proposed activities are mountain hiking, gareta riding, and cable car riding.

Visitors can also go to the Board Walk and the Hanging Restaurant from one of the view decks. Facilities like mobile store, camping site, and nipa huts will be built in the area offering traditional massage services.

Other proposed structures underway are the Stairway to Bolven, Hanging Restaurant, Ascension Site, and a new zipline to be installed at the View Deck 3.

The provincial government, through the Provincial Manpower Training Center, is now providing the necessary trainings in traditional massage for interested Aetas.
