CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - An
official from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council
(PDRRMC) the other day urged the barangay officials to undergo water search and
rescue (Wasar) training.
Engr. Lulu Alingcastre,
PDRRMC chief said that the provincial government is sponsoring training on
rescue operations as part of the
disaster preparation.
Wasar training is being
conducted by police personnel and other
allied organizations specializing on live saving activities during extreme cases of natural calamities.
Meanwhile, she claimed that
the province of Pampanga is now ready
for any untoward incidents that may happen during rainy season.
Alingcastre noted that
disaster preparation is a year round activity to ensure safety of the
Kapampangans including their properties particularly those living in the
coastal municipalities.
It can be noted that towns
located along the stretch of Pampanga River
were heavily devastated during the onslaught of heavy typhoons last
year which caused massive flooding affecting
even the City of San Fernando and neighboring communities.
This resulted to
displacement of thousands of families who then temporarily establish their
shelters along Arayat-Apalit Setback Levee.
