CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - Political observers from different sectors in the province of Pampanga had claimed the issue of political dynasty in the local level is weak compared to the sovereign will of the electorates.
"It's up to the people to decide. Personalities are merely secondary in the upcoming elections. Whether the politicians come from prominent families or not, what is more important is that the result must reflect the sentiment of the people," Conrado Yuson, a retired public school teacher in San Simon town said.
Yuson added that politicians must refrain from using political dynasty as an issue to advance their personal interest because everybody is doing it. Not even, the current administration of President Benigno Aquino is excused.
"Huwag na nating isama ang pulitika sa Tarlac. Sino ba si Bam Aquino at si Ting Ting Cojuangco? Hindi mga kamag anak sila ni President Aquino? he asked.
For the farmers, the issue of political dynasty is not quite important as they are more concern on the agricultural supports being delivered by the government officials.
"Kung tutuusin wala namang masama sa magkakamag anak na nanunungkulan. Ang kailangang tingnan natin ay yung kanilang nagagawa para sa tao. Basta nagtatrabaho lang sana sila ng tama," Ceferino Cabrera, a farmer in the province said.
This came as former Governor Eddie "Among Ed" Panlilio floated the idea of political dysnasty only to serve his political ambition without taking into consideration the views of the Kapampangans on the matter.
"He is keep on telling the public that political dynasty is evil as if he is only the righteous man in the province. Yung ngang daang matuwid na sinusundan niya hindi niya nakikita eh," Elizabeth Cuevas, a plain housewife in Candaba town said.
