CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – An official from the police provincial office yesterday divulged that they are closely monitoring urbanized towns including two cities in the province as part of their continuing effort to keep the province peaceful.

Superintendent Ricardo David, deputy provincial director for administration said among the places they considered prone to the illegal activities of the lawless criminals were Apalit, Guagua, Mabalacat City including the City of San Fernando.

“Dyan kasi karaniwang naglalagi ang mga nagbabalak na gumawa ng krimen dito sa ating probinsiya,” david stated in a radio program Indung Kapampangan aired at DWRW 95.1 FM yesterday.

The police official also added that even small towns are also being monitored through the chiefs of police in various  municipal police stations.

“Pati maliliit na bayan ay binabantayan natin,” he pointed out.

David, however, admitted that with only more than 1,100 police personnel in the province they cannot all alone ensure the safety of the Kapampangans all the times.

In fact, he said, they need the full cooperation of the residents and other stakeholders to pre-empt the commission of a crime by giving information on suspicious individuals in their localities.

“Kulang po ang bilang natin kumpara sa populasyon natin, kung hindi ako nagkakamali mayroon lamang tayong 1,150 na pulis samantalang umaabot na yata sa may 1.9 million ang populasyon natin sa Pampanga,” David noted.

He likewise recognized the role of the “Bantay-bayan members who serve as force multipliers in the  fight against criminality.

“Malaki din po ang kanilang tulong sa pagbabantay ng katahimikan sa ating probinsiya,” David added.

It was learned that there were about 10,000 bantay bayan in the province.
