Villar offers livelihood to Pampanga

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Las Pinas Representative Cynthia Villar yesterday offered livelihood skills program under “Water Lily Weaving Project” to the provincial government.

“We come here to provide you livelihood projects. Gusto kong i-process ang inyong water lily para mabigyan natin ng trabaho ang mga kababaihan dito,” Villar said.

This statement was made the congresswoman Tuesday in her official visit to the provincial government.

She was warmly welcomed by Governor Lilia Pineda together with Board Member Fritzie David, Mayor Jun Tetangco and various department heads.

Villar stated that with proper trainings and technology, water lilies can be used in making handicrafts which in turn may be sold both in the local and foreign market.

These include baskets, trays, chests, bags, traditional bags (bayongs), hampers, cabinets, lamp shades of different shapes and sizes—and even a dining table complete with chairs. The smaller items range from coasters to slippers.

She noted that water lily weaving project is perfect in Pampanga as the same is rich to bodies of water, river channels among others.

Also, according to her, the use of water lily for livelihood program can help rehabilitate the province’s waterways adversely affected by calamities.

“Tuturuan din natin ng weaving ang mga aetas ng Pampanga. Tapos kapag may kalamidad yung gawa na lamang nila ang bibilhin ng probinsiya para ibigay sa mga biktima,” Villar ended.
