CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The residents in Candaba town thanked the
provincial government through Governor Lilia Pineda for distributing relief
stubs to flood affected communities although it came a bit late compared to other
private groups who already distributed goods right after the Southwest Monsoon.
These stubs were distributed by the employees of the provincial
government mostly from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).
It was learned that more than 2,000 indigent residents are
expected to receive relief goods.
They were identified based on the National Household Targeting
System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) program previously implemented by the
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
“Mahal po namin si Nanay Gob, na mi miss po natin siya,” Aling Sion, a
resident in Candaba stated.
Earlier, Vice President Jejomar Binay reached out the displaced people by the
Southwest Monsoon as enhanced by Typhoon Maring.
Binay sent his team who conducted an ocular inspection and
assessment on the extent of damages.
The vice president also gave some 1,000 packs of relief goods to the
residents.
The DSWD regional office through Director Adelina Apostol is also
quick in addressing the immediate needs of the displaced Candabenios.
Apostol with the timely coordination with the municipal government
offered several thousands of relief goods proportionate to the number of residents who were actually affected.
According to her, some 3,000 relief packs were provided to the
said town.
GMA Kapuso Foundation after knowing the scope damages in terms of standing
crops and infrastructure also provided comfort to the residents who benefited on the previous
relief distributions.
