CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – An official from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)  regional office that some P637-million will be used for the proposed dredging of Labuan,Camachile-Ventura and Dalan Pari Rivers.

DPWH Director Antonio Molano said the impending dredging activity might be the ultimate solution on  the life threatening flooding problem in towns of Minalin, Sto. Tomas, Macabebe and Masantol.

He added that aside from the dredging of Labuan, Camachile- Ventura and Dalan Pari Rivers, the re-opening of the original water-flow in the upper stream from Gugu River to Pasig Portrero River is also another priority to address the looming problem on flooding.

The Pasig-Potrero River is closed upstream inside the Megadike and water is forced to flow to the left through the Gugu River.

Molano during the recent briefing with the local chief executives in the flooded municipalities stated that they have been doing everything to ensure the integrity of all on-going flood control projects.

The director also noted that noted that the public works is not an enemy of the mayors. In fact he stated that they were partners in saving the people from any danger through the rehabilitation, restoration of the tail dike and re-channelling of water flows including dredging of the silted portions of the riverbed.

"Magkakampi po tayo sa laban na ito, hindi po tayo magkalaban," Molano told the mayors.

It was also observed that Gugu creek flows to the Dalan Pari creek, another creek beside the tail dike.

Dalan Pari creek is supposed to flow out to the Sasmuan River through the Labuan River but this body of water is blocked.
