CANDABA - The family members of the senior citizens who recently received social pension from the national
government lauded the staff of the regional office of the Department of Social Welfare Office (DSWD).
"Nagpapasalamat
po kami sa pamahalaan lalu na sa mga taga DSWD dito sa atin na
pinangungunahan ni Director Adelina Apostol. Malaking bagay po ang
tulong na kanilang ibinigay sa aming mga magulang," Luisina Delos
Santos, a grand daughter of one of the beneficiaries here stated.
The
Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens Program addresses the
clamor for social protection to the most vulnerable older persons as
well as backs the full implementation of RA 9994 or the Expanded Senior
Citizens Act of 2010.
It can be recalled that some 192 senior citizens the other day benefited from the program in a ceremony held at Ms. Earth Park in Barangay Mandasig here.
Each of them got a monthly stipend of P500 to augment daily subsistence and other medical needs of indigent senior citizens.
It was learned that only those non-pensioners who are 77 years old and up, with no regular support from the family were identified for the said purpose.
