Health department launches “Go 4 Health” program

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Center for Health Development (CHD) in Region III  of the Department of Health (DOH)  launched “Go 4 Health” program in a simple program held at the Bren Z Guiao Convention Center yesterday.

CHD III Director Leonita Gorgolon explained that four (4) stands for Go Sigla, Go Slow sa Tagay, Go Smoke Free and Go Sustansiya”Gorgolon.

It is a nationwide program of DOH that promotes healthy practices to prevent lifestyle-related diseases.

Gorgolon said that  the program is part of the millennium development goal for health of DOH that mobilizes Barangay Health Workers to be utilized for information dissemination through the conduct of lecture in the grassroots level particularly in the remote areas.

The  people are encouraged to live a healthy lifestyle through regular exercises, reduction of alcohol intake, end smoking and proper nutrition.

Governor Lilia Pineda  expressed full support to the “Go 4 Health” program through provision of service vehicle to all the 505 barangays of the province to be used by the community health team (CHT) in every barangay.

“In order to achieve the objective of this program or the universal health care and my vision for the Kapampangans as most health in the entire province, I will empower the our community health workers through the provision of service vehicle and allowances amounting to P250 to each of them every month. This is a counterpart to the commitment of the DOH in providing another P250 for each of the BHW each month. The provincial government will work on this,” Pineda announced.

She likewise   asked  the community health workers to locate all bed-ridden Kapampangans and those with communicable and lifestyle related diseases in their areas of responsibilities and work for their admission in regional, provincial and district hospitals for their early recovery.

Also present during the launching were Vice Governor  Dennis Pineda, Provincial Board Members Rosve Henson, Ferdinand Labung, Salvador Dimson Jr, Nestor Tolentino, Ricardo Yabut, Cherry Manalo, Crisostomo Garbo, Joseph Anthony Torres, Michael Tapang, Provincial Health Officer Marcelo Jao Chico, chiefs of district hospitals and other department heads headed by Engr. Lulu Alingcastre, Elizabeth Baybayan, Engr. Noli Pangan, Eliza Rey Munoz, among others.
