Registration of migrants urged By Herbert P. Mapiles CANDABA - Mayor Rene Maglanque yesterday asked the barangay leaders in town to conduct a massive registration of all migrants workers including ambulant vendors. He explained that this initiative is aimed at safeguarding the interest and welfare of the Candabenios. "Ayaw na natin na maulit ang mga nangyari noong nakaraan na mayroon tayong mga kababayang napapahamak sa kamay ng mga dahuyan," Maglanque said. The mayor noted that there is an existing municipal ordinance mandating the registration of all incoming nonresident workers. It was learned that most of the recorded crimes in town were perpetrated by nonresident workers. As this developed, Maglanque pushed for the strict implementation of the ordinance to make sure that the Candabenios will not fall prey to some criminals hiding in town as farm workers or house boys. The mayor further stated the success of the campaign on this matter will depend on the degree of cooperation of the barangay officials and local employers. He also urged the local employers to refuse employing non-residents who is failed to present clearance from the police and barangay they are originally residing.
