CANDABA
- The municipal agriculture office in this town yesterday reported that
the initial agricultural damaged due to Typhoon Labuyo had reached more
than P1.6 million involving standing crops.
According
to Mario Concepcion, municipal agriculturist most of the affected
farmers came from the barangays of Vizal Sto. Nino, Vizal Sto. Cristo
and Pansinao.
"Nagka
problema yung mga nagtatanim ng palay at gulay, malaking bahagi ng
taniman ng palay at gulay ang nalubog sa tubig baha," he said.
The rice fields were flooded as a result of breaches in several portions Maasim Dike in Tagalog Region.
In Barangay Vizal Sto. Cristo, some 130 hectares were affected, 15 in Vizal Sto. Nino and 6.5 hectares in Pansinao.
Concepcion
meanwhile noted that they
are still working on the final report on agricultural damages as they
were also other barangays which are reportedly submerged to flood water.
