ARAYAT
- The former "supremo" of the so-called Hukbong Mapagpalayang Bayan and
now mayor of this town declared green 'revolution' as part of the
food sufficiency program of his administration designed to meet the
needs of every family.
This came as Mayor Emmanuel "Bon" Alejandrino partnered with the newly formed Pampanga Media Practioners Association (PMPA) to further bolsters his drive to plant variety of vegetable seedlings in all public schools in town and fruit bearing trees at the slope of the mountain.
"Inaanyayahan nating ang ating mga kababayayan, mga estudyante at mga guro sa isang rebulusyon. Ito ay green revolution. Magtatanim tayo ng mga gulay sa bawat paaralan at bakuran para libre na ang kanilang pagkain," he said.
The mayor together PMPA officials last Saturday spearheaded a series of vegetable planting activities in different public elementary school including Anderson, Mesulo, Cacutud and Gatiawin.
They were joined by school officials and barangay officials in the concerned locality.
PMPA was led by its President Broadcast Journalist John Susi and Executive Vice President Joel Mapiles.
Alejandrino stated that he is happy because a group of media practioners in the province had manifested interest in supporting his program.
He noted that this group could also help in strengthening the town's information drive so that the people would be properly educated on the importance of vegetable planting not only inside the premises but also in the backyard of every family.
