SAN SIMON - The local authorities here the other confiscated some 68 dead dogs which are about to be transported to Baguio City.

Chief Inspector Michale John Riego, town's chief of police said that their station received an information that a van leaded with dead dogs will pass through the San Simon exit.

With this, upon the help of the  Philippine society for the prevention of cruelty against the animals, the police immediately coordinated wit the North Luzon Expressway for the apprehension of the  suspects responsible for illegal activity.

This operation led to the arrest of certain Ian Medina, however his brother Ronnie was able to escape the authorities.

"Ang ginagawa nila nililinis na nila at kinakatay, ara hindi maging kapansin pansin ay isinasakay na nila sa maayos na sasakyan nakalagay na sa isang box na may yelo," Riego stated.

The dead dogs reportedly came  from San Perdo Laguna and scheduled to be transported to Baguio City.

Initial investigation disclosed that Ronnie, the other day suspect has a pending warrant of arrest issued by Baguio MTC also for dog trade.

The apprehended suspect was charged before the Fiscal's Office for violation Republic Act No. 9582 also known as  Anti-Rabies Act of 2007 and Republic Act No. 8485 otherwise known as the Animal Welfare Act.
