"We are ready anytime" - DSWD exec

City of San Fernando – An executive from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) yesterday bared they are ready to serve the Kapampangan at anytime should another calamity will hit the province of Pampanga anew as there is enough fund available.

DSWD Regional Director Adelina Apostol in an interview said that the Kapampangans had nothing to worry and assured them that they are top of the situation as they had been closely working with various local government units through their respective municipal social welfare officers.

"Kahit pa panibagong bagyo ang tumama sa Pampanga ay mayroon tayong sapat na pagkukunan ng mga relief goods para ibigay sa ating mga kababayang nangangailangan. Mayroon pa tayong isang milyong piso available at any given time para rito," Apostol told Sun Star Pampanga.

She explained that the department's main thrust during calamity is to provide immidiate assistance to the residents who were affected by typhoons specially those families whose houses were totally wash out.

Apostol also noted that repacking of relief goods is still on going to meet the needs of the flood affected municipalities who are still requesting for the same despite previous deliveries and distributions.

It was learned that with the joint effort of the DSWD, provincial government, local government units, non government organizations some more than P16-million worth of relief goods was distributed to the victims of southwest monsoon (Habagat) and typhoon Maring in the province for the past ten days.

Meanwhile, based on the report of the  Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) as of August 26 at least  17,879 packs of goods were given to families on evacuation centers from inundated barangays especially in the fourth and second districts.

Repacking of goods at the provincial action center is also still ongoing as well as the distribution to the other affected families.
