CANDABA
– As the water level of Pampanga River is rising, residents here
particularly those in Barangay San Agustin are preparing for another
flooding season.
According to them, there is no heavy downpour but the water in the river is gradually increasing beyond its normal level.
The communities adjacent to Pampanga River are expected to be submerged flood waters anytime if volume of water coming from the neighboring provinces in Northern Luzon will not be reduced.
"Dahil sa mababa tayo lahat ng tubig ulan sa upstream ay sa atin bumababa. Kaya mukhang lulubugin na naman tayo," Robert Sagum, a resident here said.
As this developed, the residents in San Agustin prepared their boats which serve as the main means of transportation during this season.
Those living in 'bungalow' type of houses had moved their properties and other personal belongings to higher grounds.
These residents are at all times ready during rainy season and even managed to deal with fifteen feet of floodwater annually.
Sun Star Pampanga also observed that even poor families here have their own boats.
