ARAYAT - The local chief executive here recently reminded barangay officials about the municipal government's policy on solid waste management and disposal.
Mayor
Emmanuel Alejandrino said that under the existing law, the barangay
captains are among the officials being primary held responsible by the
law should there be indiscriminate dumping of
waste.
"I am holding them responsible to properly dispose their waste produced in their respective community. Nakikiusap tayo na ayusin na nila ang problema sa basura habang maaga bago pa magkaroon ng problema," he added.
Alejadrino
stressed that he would not hesitate to implement the full force of the
law against those officials who would continuously disregard
environmental laws particularly involving the solid waste management.
"Kakasuhan natin sila kapag hindi nila inayus ang kanilang basura," he stated.
The mayor admitted that some of the residents living near the river embankment are dumping their domestic waste making the same as the biggest dump site in Pampanga.
With this, he also urged his constituents to
cooperate with the barangay officials in the implementation of solid
waste management program .
