MASANTOL - The local chief executive here yesterday confirmed that one of his trusted men was gunned down by
still unidentified individuals Monday evening.
Mayor
Dan Guinto identified the casualty as Laurence Viray who is working in
the municipal government as secretary to the Office of the Mayor.
"Binaril po siya sa Barangay Bebe Anac bandang alas sais medya ng gabi," he said.
Guinto added that Viray was declared dead on the spot was not given the opportunity by the perpetrators to defend himself.
"Yung
identity ng mga pumatay ay hindi pa natin natutukoy pero mayroon na
tayong sinusundang lead. Kaya lang hindi muna natin ito idi-divulge sa
ngayon," he stressed.
As
this developed, the mayor instructed the police to conduct a thorough
investigation to put the responsible individuals behind the bars.
"Inutusan
na natin ang kapulisan na mag form ng task force na nakapangalan sa
biktima para matutukan ang kaso," he told Sun Star Pampanga.
Meanwhile,
he assured the victim's bereaved family members that the municipal
government will do everything within in its authority to help them in
any capacity.
