Capitol, DA partnership boosts farmers’ production

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The continuing partnership between the provincial government and the Department of Agriculture (DA) had boosted the production of the Kapampangan farmers.

This came as the DA provided some P8,702,204.95 for the farm equipment distributed to the farmers representing 85 percent of the cost and the provincial government shared a total of P1,686,170.95 which composed the 15 percent share.

The 15 % share is supposed to be the share of the farmers but it was shouldered by the provincial government.

Bong Bamba, a farmer from Barangay Pulung Masle, in Guagua town said the new equipment will lessen their production cost and will make their work easier.

“One of the expenses in planting is the rental for equipment. Now with the hand tractors with trailers that we received we don’t need to rent the machine and also we don’t need to pay P7 to P10 per sack for the hauling,” Bamba said.

Farm machineries distributed are as follows: 14 shallow tube wells (STWs); 23 hand tractors with trailers; 4 reapers;13 threshers and 3 mini tractors.

“The instruction of Gov. Pineda is to give the farm machineries for free. This made true because the provincial government shouldered the counterpart of the farmers in the purchase of the equipment,” Crispin Guinto, acting provincial agriculturist said.

The distribution of farm machineries was led by Vice Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda together with 3rd District Board Member Ferdinand Labung, 2nd District Board Member Anthony “Ton-Ton”Torres among others.
