STA. ANA - Several consumers of Pampanga 1 Electric Cooperative (Pelco 1) here yesterday lambasted the latest policy on imposing an additional burden to disconnected members by requiring them to pay bond before having re - connected.
This came as a 65-year old member was refused to be connected again after she fails to pay the said bond.
"Kaya nga kami naputulan dahil wala kaming pera ngayon dinagdagan pa nila ang dapat naming bayaran," she told Sun Star Pampanga.
According to the teller serving the paying station of the electric coop here, the bond is equivalent to at least one month electric bill as shown in the previous billing statement.
This will not be credited to the next bill of the disconnected member, but instead shall remain to be kept by the Pelco 1 until the member decided not to avail the services of the latter.
"Kung hindi ito gagamitin pambayad sa susunod na bill, kailan ko makukuha ang bond na sinasabi ninyo? Kapag patay na ako?" the old woman further asked.
Previously, Pelco 1 only requires the disconnected member to pay all pending electric bills plus interest and re-connection fee so that the electric connection will be re-installed.
"Total naman kooperatiba ito, sana naman iniisip din nila ang kalagayan namin. Hindi yung puro kanila ang nasusunod," another complaining member pointed out.
