"Palakasan" noted in registration voters

CANDABA - Registrants coming from the far flung barangays here yesterday noted that familiarity and "palakasan" are common practice during registration for the upcoming Sangguniang Kabataan and barangay elections.

According to them, they were disappointed with  the way the Commission on Elections (Comelec)  in the municipal level  handles registration of incoming voters.

"Kami po ang layo ng aming pinanggagalingan, kabitbahay namin ay nasa Bulacan na, kaya madaling araw pa ay nandito na kami pero ang nakakalungkot may mga dumarating na may dalang numero at registration form. Pagdating nila, sila pa ang unang inaasikaso," Mang Tirso, a resident here stated.

He explained that what is happening is highly irregular and in fact would even encourage residents to go home instead due to inconvenience.

"Alas nuebe na ng gabi ini-entertain pa nila ang dumarating tapos kapag kilala nila yung naghahakot ng tao, mabilis ang pag proseso sa kanilang registration," Mang Tirso stated.

Another resident from  Barangay Mapinique - a community near Bulacan area noted that their group  finished their  registration late in the evening despite the fact that they came few hours ahead of time.

The registration is being held at the Mayor's Action Center inside the compound of Ms. Earth Part in Barangay Mandasig.

Meanwhile,  Comelec scheduled the filing of Certificates of Candidacy on October 15 until October 17.

The election period covers the period of September 28 to November 12.

Casting of votes will be on October 28 starting seven in the morning up to three in the afternoon.
