Guv to MGB: Prioritize flood prone municipalities in data gathering

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -     The provincial government yesterday asked  Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to prioritize the towns in the 4th district including Arayat in  third district  in so far gathering data is concerned.
Governor Lilia Pineda claimed that the eight flood prone municipalities in the 4th district are  always among worse affected areas in the province during rainy season.
"Sinasabi kuna na lahat ng bayan sa fourth district ay critical dahil kapag umaapaw ang Pampanga River talagang nilulubog ang mga iyan," she noted.

The governor is referring to the towns of Candaba, San Luis, Apalit, San Simon, Macabebe, Masantol, Sto. Tomas and Minalin - mostly are adjacent to Pampanga River.
MGB chief
Noel Lacadin recently said that their bureau is mandated to conduct study and assessment on the state natural resources available in the province  in order to preempt any untoward incident particularly during calamity.

However, he clarified that their authority is only limited to providing recommendations to implementing government agencies and concerned local government units to prevent lost of lives and properties on the part of the residents.

Pineda meanwhile urged members of the various  Barangays and Municipal Disaster Coordinating Councils to cooperative with them to come up with a comprehensive disaster plan to secure the safety of the people.

"Tulungan po ninyo kami. Magtulong tulong tayo  ang kailangan natin ay disaster plan na pambuong probinsiya. Kailangan ang mga nasa barangay ay makipag kaisa para mabuo natin yung tamang disaster plan," she stated.
